Virtus.pro finishes second at ELEAGUE Major 2017

In the first major-event of the year our CS:GO team advanced to the grand-final, but lost to Astralis.

Map 1 stats (Nuke):

Virtus.pro started on T side. They won an eco after losing the pistol round because of agressive street play by Danes (1:1). Then VP won four rounds in a row after concentrating their attacks on the A plant (5:1). Astralis, however, managed to counter their tactics and scored even (5:5). The teams continued to swap rounds, but after a successful 1v3 clutch by Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski VP.G2A finished the first half with a score of 9:6.

VP lost the second pistol round as well. Astralis managed to even the score two rounds later (9:9) but were stopped by Byali who made a triple kill (10:9). Kjaerbye won the 1v1 situation in the 23rd round (12:11). The Danes managed to even the score once again and forced VP.G2A to play eco. TaZ killed three enemies with CZ-75 and VP made a comeback once again (13:12). After breaking Astralis both in terms of morale and economics VP.G2A won the three following rounds and won the map with a score of 16:12.

Map 2 stats (Overpass):

VP started playing Overpass on CT side and won the pistol round. Astralis retaliated immediately by winning an eco thanks to dupreeh's quadrakill (1:1). VP lost two more rounds to the Danes before winning a round and taking a tactical pause (2:4). Astralis won two more rounds, but Snax won a 1v2 clutch on the B plant (3:6). The "Bears" defended the A plant from the Danes' attack thanks to three kills by NEO (4:6). They won two more rounds before the second half (6:9).

After switching sides VP.G2A concentrated on fast A rushes and reduced the score gap to a minimum (9:10). Xyp9x took control of the bomb in the 20th round and won a 1v2 clutch, saving the day for Astralis (9:11). Virtus.pro lost two more rounds before restoring their economics (9:13). Then they rushed B, evening the score twice (14:14). Snax killed four opponents while making entry to B, but Kjaerbye retaliated by killing 4 VP.G2A players and winning the round (14:15). Then VP.G2A made a fake grenade throw on A but rushed B. Xyp9x stopped the attack, killing three opponents - 14:16.

Map 3 stats (Train):

VP.G2A started the decider match on T side by making a fast rush on the B plant (1:0). After winning the first gun round the Poles began a winstreak (7:1). Astralis only managed to retaliate closer to the end of the first half (9:6).

VP won three rounds in a row after switching to CT side (12:6). Astralis won the first gun round but failed to counter VP's partial buy (13:7). They made a force buy, rushed the A plant, planted the bomb and won a 1v1 clutch (13:8). As VP's economics were broken, the Danes easily won four more rounds (13:12).

VP.G2A won another round with a partial buy but lost the following round to Danes (14:13). Astralis broke even as VP.G2A were forced to play a full eco round (14:14) and played agressively in the following rounds. They successfully attacked the A plant twice, winning the match with a score of 14:16.

As a result, our team finished second at ELEAGUE Major and received $150 thousand in winnings. We have also received a slot in the next Major tournament, along with other teams who made it to the playoff stage. Last summer, VP won the first ELEAGUE tournament - ELEAGUE Season 1. Its finals were also held in Atlanta.
